Who We Are?

CAN-CONNECT is a Waterloo-based Networking and Event Management Service Company. Can-connect works to encourage various communications and gathers businesses via multiple venues to provide its clients with high quality and dedicated services that will ensure high levels of satisfaction and proficiency.

CAN-CONNECT is one of very few firms in Canada with a special emphasis on business networking and event management between Canada and international markets with a primer focus on North Africa and Middle-East opportunities.

Management

Can-Connect is managed by Dr. Khaled M. Berbash, who has more than 25 years of a track record in designing, supervising, and managing a wide array of projects in different areas ranging from residential, educational, commercial, and industrial venues. Dr. Berbash lead and/or participated in a large number of professional, engineering, and technical work-groups and focused committees in both public and private sectors, as well as local and international civil society organizations. Dr. Berbash was granted his Ph.D. in infrastructure and construction management and Master of Public Service at the University of Waterloo. In 1991 at the University of Tripoli, Mr. Berbash was granted a B.Sc. in Architecture and Urban Planning; which was followed by M.Sc. in Engineering Management in 1998. Dr. Berbash also served a number of teaching and research assistant posts at both universities.

Mr. Berbash is known for his interest in scientific research, business and professional development, entrepreneurship enthusiasm, innovative ideas, and creative inventions. Dr. Berbash registered his first Patent in the USA in 2012 and is working on other potential patent proposals. Dr. Berbash has witnessed a number of architectural designs and implementation projects and programs on behalf of different stakeholders. Dr. Berbash has remarkable achievements in establishing a number of NGOs nationally and internationally since 1991. In this regard, Dr. Berbash led a number of Libyan professional delegates to some international scientific and professional events like UN 2nd HABITAT in 1996, International Union of Architects, etc.

Our scholars are very committed to use and promote the state-of-art of technologies and deliverables. Among our prestigious scholars of excellence are:

  • Dr. Ibrahim Elefour is a Mechanical Systems Engineering Specialist. Dr. Ibrahim Alaefour is a graduate of University of Waterloo (UW) and University of New Brunswick (UNB), Canada. As a very self-motivated engineer and postdoctoral fellow with over ten years of mechanical systems and applied research expertise in advanced energy systems and energy storage technologies, Dr. Alaefour is actively involved in green energy and multidisciplinary research and applications; including proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEM Fuel Cells), high-temperature PEM Fuel Cells (HT-PEM Fuel Cells), power generation plants, heat recovery and exchange systems, and energy storage. The accumulated extensive professional practice, teaching and industry-driven research skills, Dr. Alaefour have acquired a substantial knowledge in modeling and experimental techniques associated with heat transfer, mass transfer, transport phenomena, experimental design and data processing. Dr. Alaefour also developed unique corporate training skills with special focus on advanced Green Energy generation, storage and fuel cells. In terms of scientific contribution, Dr. Alaefour's have been publishing in a number of renowned energy and electrochemical journals worldwide. In addition, Dr. Alaefour is dynamically presenting some significant research papers in many top-notch conferences, seminars and workshops. Further, Dr. Alaefour is an active subject matter reviewer for peer reviewed international Journals such as Applied Energy, Renewable Energy, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy and International Green Energy Conference (IGEC).
  • Dr. Jumma Mahfoud is a Human Resources Specialist.

  • Bedis Yaacoubi holds a Bachelor degree in Systems Engineering and has earned a Master's Degree in Management Sciences from the University of Waterloo. Mr. Yaacoubi is a strategic and big picture thinker with keen analytical and technical skills. He has worked for global companies like Accenture and D2L, and has enjoyed exposure to a wide array of industries that include Air Transportation, Education, Insurance, Public Sector, and Information Technology. Throughout his career, Bedis has teamed up with numerous business leaders to introduce innovative and sustainable solutions to local and international markets. As part of his roles in the Services, Success, and Sales organizations, Bedis especially enjoys building long-lasting professional relationships that are fundamentally built upon mutual appreciation, tactful execution, and intended success. In his free time, Bedis likes spending time with his family, learning about a new random topic, or playing soccer with his friends
  • Mr. Mohamed Hatem El Turki holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and earned his Master’s degree in Engineering Management from the University of Tripoli in Libya. As a passionate electrical engineer, Mr. El Turki has over 25 years of extensive experience in the principles and practices of electrical power distribution, engineering design, and construction in the low voltage. Mr. El Turki obtained his International professional project management diploma (IPPM) that fostered his skills and expertise in project development and management. Mr. El Turki started his private professional and electrical contracting career by establishing his company, Golden Star for Electrical Works. Mr. El Turki’s academic, professional, and contracting experience enabled him to analyze complex engineering problems, evaluate and recommend alternative solutions and communicate recommendations effectively, ensure compliance with safety requirements, standards, and procedures; structure bidding proposals, and advise the most recommended the cost-effective and efficient project implementation plans and code compliance strategies. Recently, Mr. El Turki started exploring green energy technologies, and is working on a number of Solar Energy projects.
